Artur Ekert, the Centre's founding director, has received Singapore's Public Administration Medal (Silver).

Congratulations to Artur! CQT’s Director Prof Artur Ekert was presented with the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in Singapore’s National Day Awards on 9 August. He is one of 90 recipients of the Medal in 2017. It is presented for “outstanding efficiency, competence and industry.

The Prime Minister’s Office Singapore states: “The Medal consists of 4 integrated and perforated pentagons having, on the obverse side, a four-pointed star upon which is a shield bearing a crescent and 5 stars. Below the shield is a scroll bearing the inscription “PINGAT PENTADBIRAN AWAM”. The reverse side of the Medal bears the State Arms.

Artur has been the Director of CQT since the Centre launched in December 2007. Before that, he pitched the idea of a Research Centre of Excellence in quantum technologies to Singapore’s policy-makers, and led the team that brought the Centre to life.

“I am glad that our joint effort to make Singapore a quantum island is noticed and recognised,” says Artur.
